The new Polishing Cloth

Apple has redesigned its cloth and dropped it to €10. What is there to review in a €10 cloth? Exactly.

Yesterday morning I bought the new Apple Polishing Cloth at the Apple Store in my city. Here is everything I made of it, photos and all.

The cloth is very well made, and it is less rigid than the previous generation. That costs it something in the hand. It feels a little less substantial than the one it replaces, but it makes it far better at the job the old one struggled with: wiping down a surface that is actually wet.

The new price, $9 or €10, is symbolic. High? Low? Let’s not kid ourselves: we are talking about a cloth. Yes, it is the cloth you can take to anything from a €100 accessory to a €6,000 machine, and it will do the job better than anything else in the drawer. But €10 is still a lot for a cloth, and you only wave it through because the thing has an Apple logo on it.

The packaging has changed since the last generation, and to my eye it sits much better with the boxes Apple ships today.
